What is a Male Breast Reduction?
Gynecomastia Male Breast reduction is the removal of excess tissue (sometimes referred to as man boobs) in your chest area due to genetics, weight gain and certain drugs. Gynecomastia is a very common disorder affecting one in five men something during their life.
The Surgical Procedure
The excess breast tissue and or fat can most often be removed with ultrasonic assisted liposuction though occasionally open excision through a small incision around the periphery of the areola offering a chest with masculine contour.
The surgeon's fee is $4500-$6,000. This fee does not include hospital and anesthiologist fee.
What to Expect After Breast Reduction Surgery
Pain is usually relatively little, often being a degree of discomfort. Some swelling will occur, but this usually begins to go away by the third or fourth day. Rest as much as possible for the first week. Avoid raising your arms over your head for 2 weeks.
Resuming Physical Activities
- Driving - 1 week
- Non-contact sports - 3 weeks
- Contact sports - 6 weeks
- Sexual activity - 2 weeks
- Avoid any strenuous exercising or lifting for 3-4 weeks.
